Way back a year ago in late fall of 2020 we received an email from a couple looking to relocate from the northeast United States to the sunny Venice, Florida area. They had been coming to the area for years to vacation and now the time was right to make Florida their home. They had the usual criteria of three bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car garage, a pool would be nice but not required. But they also had specific requirements for their home (as everyone does). One of their must haves was a two car garage where two cars actually fit AND you can open the car doors to get in and out of the car. But the even bigger community requirement was overnight driveway parking had to be allowed. Every summer family comes and stays with them, and they will need to park their car in the driveway. So, our hunt began. These folks were diligent and did thorough research on the communities and the neighborhoods. Before they were here to tour homes, we did a lot of emailing. I was so impressed how they asked to review the HOA documents of the communities they liked. By reviewing the documents, they were able to decide if the community went on the acceptable list or discard pile. When they were here and ready to tour homes, they already knew where they wanted to look.
The showing of houses began in the heat of the very competitive market of the spring of 2021. They had their criteria check sheet and when a home fit their conditions, we made an offer. And we made an offer. And we made an offer. We were competing against cash offer after cash offer. Then they had to return back to the northeast, and we continued to do virtual tours. And write offers. They were determined to find the right home. They came back for another extended stay. And it happened—a home in the neighborhood they really desired came on the market, a neighborhood with pretty yards and not cookie cutter architecture. The home is within five miles to the Gulf of Mexico, close to adorable downtown Venice, offers a community pool plus access to a creek where you can kayak. They made an offer. By this time, they weren’t expecting to win the multiple offer situation. And they didn’t at first, but after some renegotiating their offer was accepted and then we negotiated a few repairs. Bonus, appraisal came in above purchase price. After a year of research, months and months of searching they Said Yes to the Address! They will begin the NEW YEAR in their new home! Ray and I truly enjoyed making their real estate dream a reality!
